Regency Mahogany twin fusee bracket clock made by John Ladd a renowned clock and chronometer maker at work in Cornhill London Circa 1820 - 1824. The stepped top case with pineapple finial, pierced brass side sound frets below side carrying handles, inset brass mounted front panels. Remarkable is the disposition of the surface with untouched patina, fire gilt decorative trim in the case and brasses, inset panels and side grills. The case rests all on brass ball feet. The convex painted iron dial measures 8-in in diameter and is lined in Roman numerals. The cast brass bezel retains its original convex glass. The dial retains the original, untouched makers signature John Ladd, Cornhill, London, 307. The brass works are eight-day, fusee, time and strike movement, with edge engraved backplate and beautifully engraved in flowing script by Ladd along with the location in London. Overall the clock measures 20 inches in height. The rear door lock and front bezel latch come with working keys. Typical surface crazing, minor chipping, losses to the gilding. The works have been completely disassembled, cleaned, polished, lubricated, ressembled and regulated to provide another 175 + years of pleasure for the future owners.
