High style inlaid Mahogany “Sunburst Pediment” tall case clock, Reading PA C. 1815. The case from the hands of Daniel Rhein & Henry Quast, the eight day sweep seconds movement by Daniel Oyster coupled to an incredible original Philadelphia painted iron dial from the Patton & Jones workshop with an untouched signature. Note the American Flag flying in one of the scenes in the lunar dial. It stands a monumental 110 ” to the top of the center finial.

Daniel Oyster (1765-1845) appears in the Reading Tax List in 1791.  From 1792 – 1805 the listing includes “clock maker.”   In 1821, he advertises in the Berks & Schuylkill Journal: DANIEL OYSTER, Respectfully informs his friends and the public that he still carries on the business of Clock and Watch Maker, At his old stand, a few doors south of the court-house, and nearly opposite Mrs. Coleman’s hotel.  …..
