Thomas Lindsay Philadelphia Walnut Chippendale Tall Clock

Thomas Lindsay Philadelphia (Franckford)

Thomas Lindsay was a listed clockmaker at work in Philadelphia C. 1800.  The Historical Society of Pennsylvania is the home of one of his celebrated examples. This is a wonderful Delaware Valley Chippendale Tall Case Clock with original feet and finials. The highly figured Walnut case with tombstone door, fluted quarter columns, cast brass strap hinges all resting on Ogee bracket feet. The English painted iron dial is from the Wilson Birmingham foundry and it is attached to a locally made eight day brass striking movement. The overall dimensions are 95 1/2 X 22 X 12 inches. Frankford was a separate town up until the 1850’s when it was incorporated into the City of Philadelphia. Just the thing for those of you looking for high style under eight feet tall.
