E. Howard Boston #95 Presentation Banjo Clock C. 1925

E. Howard Boston #95 Banjo Clock

In the early 1900’s the E. Howard Company introduced a weight driven banjo timepiece in the spirit of the original Simon Willard “Patent Timepiece.”   The model was called the #95 and there were several frame and glass theme options available for the clock.   The example shown in the pictures below is considered to be the finest Simon Willard reproduction timepiece and it is the only one that faithfully executes the original geometric reverse glass paintings and the cross banded mahogany frames.  The gilt geometric tablets with “Robin’s Egg Blue” and cream background are outstanding.  Another interesting detail in these clocks is the use of the Nickel plated clock works.   The clock is a full size 42″ weight driven banjo that is in as-found, untouched, original condition.  This clock is the best of it’s kind and represents a unique opportunity to own a pristine example.
