The Mahogany & Mahogany veneered case with Tulip Poplar secondaries is a locally made American case. Similarly the dial with lunar phase aperture featuring a sailing ship flying an American flag is also American. In addition, the movement with Pennsylvania German characteristics including 1/4 striking, German strike arrest, pinwheel escapement are rarely if ever seen on English made bracket clocks. This clock is documented in the Pennsylvania Shelf & Bracket Clock book by Ed LaFond & Carter Harris on page 114. Finally, it has Sotheby’s & C. L. Prickett provenance.
