Joseph Stumpf Reading

Joseph Stump (Stumpf) 1783 – 1826. Federal Cherry tall clock, Reading PA, C. 1820. A choice example with an untouched American painted iron dial w/ lunar phase, calendar aperture & center sweep seconds. The bold case with bold proportions retains the original feet & finials. The broken arch bonnet with carved rosettes. Working door lock & key. Another wonderful find is this clocks retains the original nickel silver weights, pulleys, & pendulum: A local regional period detail from Berks Co.   If there is a cleaner, more original base on a Federal period Pennsylvania tall case clocks I have yet to see it.  97 inches tall.   The works have been overhauled in our shop and the movement runs great.
