Boston Gold Front Presentation Weight Driven Banjo Clock C. 1820 Lafayette Glass

Boston Weight Banjo Clock C. 1820

Here is a nice example of a C. 1820 Second Generation Boston Area Weight Driven Banjo Timepiece.  An original clock with dial, works, hands, bezel, frames, bracket, tablets, side arms original to this clock with the following restorations, conditions: Gold has been gone over, with chips, cracks, losses, one section of rope missing on the upper right of the box tablet.  The original gilding has been gone over with an overcoat that has some cracking, chips, discoloration, losses. The acorn finial is original. The works are single bridge, recoil escapement with rear center bolt mounting. Note the wonderful original barbed steel hands and the original weight and pulley. A couple of minor touch ups to the dial. The border on the glasses had extensive paint loss/flaking when we acquiredthe clock and thanks to the genius of Lee Davis, the white background/border has been restored and it looks great. Included below are pictures of the before/after. I will include the receipt of the work done by Lee Davis. The theme of the lower glass is a Historic view of General Lafayette. The movement has been professionally serviced and the clock runs very nicely and keeps good time.   The clock comes with its original winding crank as well.
