Waterbury Weight Driven Banjo
Highly collectible and very rare American Weight Driven Banjo Clock from the Waterbury Clock Company C. 1908/09. After the American Centennial Celebration in Philadelphia in 1876 a number of clock factories began producing clocks in the manner of the renowned “Simon Willard Patent Timepiece.” Waterbury Clock Co., Waterbury CT had their own interpretation of the Willard Banjo and offered both Spring Driven as well as Weight Driven models that featured wonderful Porcelain Dials. This is the Willard #6 and one of the rarest and hardest to find for collectors as it features gilded frames and Aurora glasses. The clock is in wonderful original condition. Included in the photos is a scan from the original Waterbury 1908/09 trade catalog that we (Adams Brown Company) reproduced back in the 1970s. This is a full size, weight driven clock that measures 42 1/4 inches overall.
